The CFP for the 2024 PASS Data Community Summit is currently open, and we need you! Hosted in Seattle from November 4-8, we want to encourage even more participation from the PostgreSQL community this year.
By many accounts, including the State of the Database Landscape report, PostgreSQL continues to be a required skill in new projects and a database of interest for developers looking to expand their experience and knowledge. This provides a great opportunity for you to come and share your expertise with thousands of database developers and DBAs in November.
As I’ve posted before, PASS Summit has traditionally been a conference focused on SQL Server and other Microsoft data platform technologies. But starting last year at the 2023 Summit, many of the leaders in the PostgreSQL community answered the call, submitted talks, and helped us to build the first dedicated track of PostgreSQL content at the event. It was a huge success! In fact, you should take a few minutes to read what Clarie Giordano, Ryan Lambert, and Jeremy Schneider had to say about their experience. (and thanks to Pavlo Golub for encouraging us to write about PostgreSQL conference experiences as part of PGSQL Phriday #014)
In addition to regular session talks, a handful of volunteers spent three days staffing the official PostgreSQL booth in the exhibit hall. They had dozens (hundreds?) of conversations and interactions with members of the data community, many expressing their excitement that PostgreSQL was represented because they had growing interested and needed to learn it.
PASS Data Community Summit will continue to evolve as the needs of the data community change. Much of the content and sessions will continue to focus on Microsoft data technologies (including their PostgreSQL offerings) because that’s the community that has built and supported this conference over more than two decades. But we also know that the database landscape is changing, and you have something to offer.
So please, consider submitting session abstracts to the CFP and joining us in Seattle, November 4-8, 2024. Bring your best PostgreSQL content and be ready to join and support a vibrant group of database professionals from all over the world! I know you’ll be encouraged, too!
